 Did You Know – April 12, 2011 – Chiropractic and Tendinitis

Chiropractic works on the basis of removing joint dysfunction and nerve disturbance.

What does this mean? – Abnormal motion of the vertebrae or any other joint can interfere with the proper transmission of messages from our brain to your body and back again.  This is called a subluxation.  Chiropractors remove subluxations by giving adjustments.

There are 3 stresses that can cause subluxations:

1. Physical stress – trauma, posture, the birth process, work habits, etc.
2. Chemical stress – what you eat, drink and breathe.
3. Emotional Stress – family, work, money, stress, etc.

The body regulates and heals itself.  Does your body need help to digest food, regulate your heart rate, and keep a constant body temperature?

If the spinal column interferes with the nervous system, it will interfere with the body’s ability to regulate and heal itself.  So, how does Chiropractic relate to tendinitis?

The condition “tendinitis” is a general term that describes inflammation of a tendon in the body.  Almost any tendon can become inflamed if it is overused or injured.

Chiropractic adjustments of the joint that is supplied by the inflamed tendon can help.  If the joint is moving properly, pressure can be taken off of the tendon, which can allow it to heal.

Adjustments and ice are the best treatments for any type of tendinitis.
