“Did You Know” March 17th, 2011 Posture Chiropractic works on the basis of removing joint dysfunction and nerve disturbance.
What does this mean? – Abnormal motion of the vertebrae or any other joint can interfere with the proper transmission of messages from your brain to your body and back again. This is called a subluxation. Chiropractors remove subluxations by giving adjustments.
There are 3 stresses that can cause subluxations:
1. Physical Stress – trauma, posture, the birth process, work habits, etc.
2. Chemical Stress – what you eat, drink, and breathe.
3. Emotional Stress – family, work, money, stress, etc.
The body regulates and heals itself. Does your body need help to digest food, regulate your
heart rate, and keep a constant body temperature?
If the spinal column interferes with the nervous system, it will interfere with the body’s ability
to regulate and heal itself. So, how does Chiropractic relate to your posture?
Your spinal column is involved in all the major movements of your body. It is, therefore, greatly
influenced by your daily habits and posture. The spinal nerves, which are affected by posture
through misalignments of the vertebrae, influence the health of the entire body. Distortion of
the spine and nervous system, in which the structure of the spine is thrown out of balance, can
happen at any time. Posture is influenced by how you sit, stand, walk and sleep. Chiropractors
work with you to not only improve spinal and nerve function but also through specific exercises
and stretches to improve postural distortions.
